At 10 pm tonight Spaghetti will go to work his LAST graveyard shift. At 6 am he will be officially a "Day shift person" with a shift of 6 am till 2 pm.
With this shift he will be able to work the day shift at his full time job, and pick up whatever Cubs games he can vend or video store hours he needs to work.
This day shift, will allow him to work the night games at Wrigley Field. Which is great, more people drink at night, v.s. the day games. And he could even work concerts. This is all better money.
But the big one is, he can... sleep. Yes I said it. The 5 letter work. Sleep. I need to say it again.
Ssssslllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppaaa.
Spaghetti working a night shift, and then having the WHOLE day to work other jobs only forced him the opportunity to work 22/7. He would leave just a few hours for sleep. Not kidding, these last few days are a key example, he has worked both Wrigley Field and the Casino night shift 5 days in a row now. That is ALL day Wrigley, I mean up and out the door by 9 am, back around 7 pm, and in bed for 2 hours, then up and out the door by 9:30 pm to work the night shift for another 8 hours, back home and in bed by 6:30 am, up again at 8:45 am to do it again.
5 days in a row. Today is his last day of the two shifts, thank god. I worry about him.
I know this may be horrible to say, but the casino almost burning down has been amazing for us. From Spaghetti's new shift, the raise and the 2 week paid vacation. Oh and that was all because his tool of a boss is finally gone! It was a big turn around from where he was there.
I can't wait to share my bed again at night. To know that I have my other half with me. For the last 4 years and 7 months I have been the OCD door checker. It was different when we were younger, when I just had me and the pets. And there was a great deal of time where I was on nights too.
But when I was pregnant, I was SO scared. I was in NO shape to escape if someone were to break in, and then when Bagel was born it was even crazier. And if you thought that was crazy, you should have seen how scared I was when I was pregnant with Weaky, AND had Bagel. Not to mention I would have wanted to save the dogs and cats. And now with Weaky too. It has been crazy. I plan and I plan in my head an escape route. In case of a break in, or a fire, or, or...
Not saying those bad things can't happen now. But there are two of us. One for each kid, there for each other working as a team. I am SO excited that Spaghetti is back on days.
I will probably still check the doors 4 times each before I go to bed. But it just might wear down to 2 or 3 someday. It's better to be safe then sorry. I was just safe, safe, safe, safe, and sometimes safe.
SO I am hoping with this new schedule things can change around the house. Call me crazy, but I am hoping when Spaghetti has to get up at 5:00 am we will be going to bed super early (fine with me, I am a morning person. Yes I know, we are a rare bread, not counting the seniors out there who are up at 4 am)
I was hoping for a new routine. In bed early, up at 5 with Spaghetti, I could get all the housework done, and when the monkey children woke at 7, two hours later, I could have the day with them. And the pool! Well here's to wishful thinking!
Happy Day Shift Spaghetti!! Muah!

Hi Queen, Penguin here.
Its been a while since I posted a comment. Us grave shift guys are going to miss working with spaghetti on nights, (especially me). While I hate to lose him, I cannot deny he should never have been put on nights in the first place. Spaghetti is super nice and is well respected and even though I was his boss, (not the tool boss), he taught me some valuable things about the job. Spaghetti made me a better person and I enjoy hanging out with your entire family from time to time. Some of us were also very worried about his hectic work schedule and I for one am glad he will get more sleep and be able to spend more time with the family. Tell spaghetti I said HI and can't wait to tease him when I see him on "DAY" shift!
Sincerely, Penguin
