While changing Weaky's diaper, Bagel walks over. Looking confused she (finally) asks me,
"Mom, what is that in Weaky's diaper?"
I wasn't surprised, knowing this was coming, and actually surprised it wasn't sooner, I told her it was Weaky's weenie.
She said "ok, I'm going to go play now"
So what do you call it? For a boy? What do you call girl parts? So far Bagel just calls it all her butt.

We say penis. Thankfully I only have boys and haven't had to come up with a name for girl parts yet. I don't think I could stand hearing my 3 year old say the v word. Mostly Will (7 years old) calls it all "private parts" which totally works for me. I am dreading having "the talk" and I know that it is coming soon.
I've always tried to use the correct terms. Labia, vagina, penis, scrotum. It is just another body part like arm, leg, mouth, ears, ya know? I try not to make a big deal out of it so there isn't a big secrecy around it or a reason to feel ashamed. I don't want them to feel bad about their bodies at all. I also want to have them know the right terms just in case some pervert were to try to touch them. I want Bailey or Jase to be able to tell me exactly which part. I'm also a tad embarrassed to admit that I was a teenager before I figured out the correct terms for things. I didn't want my kids to feel that, too.
Alright. I do believe for now I will use the word penis and vagina. Sounds good to me, I have no issues with it, and Jayme has a valid point, no one wants the confused kid at school. Believe me when the kids up the street told me to call my sister a dildo, and I did at the dinner table (10 yrs old) WOW was the look on my parents face!
