Random stuff.

Got lots to say.

Kinda random.

  • OVERLY excited to get lost in LOST tomorrow night. It's been two weeks and I am in desperate need of LOST.
  • In love all over again with the Twilight Series, I wanted to reread Twilight for the movie release on Saturday (AND Spaghetti is getting it early for me. YEP Big ASS video store perk!!) I am almost done with New Moon.
  • I did go and see the musical "Spelling Bee" with my grade school friend in it. Later post, but it was so funny and awesome!
  • Bagel tried to crush her brother, steal from her brother, and beat the dog. Which resulted in a few time outs. Sigh... I need to seriously watch over her with him WAY closer!
  • I was at my friends Stamp Camp last night. It was SO fun and I can't wait to have it as a class!
  • Weaky went to the Doctor today, no more breathing treatments. Hoo. fucking. ray. We hated those.
  • Bagel is good too.
  • I am enjoying Face Book WAY more then I ever thought I would.
  • Happy St. Patrick's Day, yes my Irish children all wore green, Spaghetti wore a grey hoodie with his green baseball hat. I even dressed my Italian self in my green Starved Rock t-shirt.
  • I am elated that the weater was 72 and sunny today. I can't wait for warmer weather.
  • Just a few weeks before we go on our trip to Nashville. (need to work out what to do with the dogs!)
  • Need to make Weaky's 1st Birthday invites.
  • The Drew Davis Band is going to be in town! Saturday show, and a Sunday show! I will be at both, Saturday with my IL's, my parents, and the kids. Then Sunday with Spaghetti!
  • I can't wait till Weaky has this DOC band off his head. Yesterday was 1/2 way! Only 6 more weeks to go!

And that is what is new with me and the Mc family. The End

I heart this swing

Yesterday was eventful.

Woke up early, drove the hour to the Cranial Technicians. Got there early for breakfast.

The appointment itself, went well. Better then we thought.

We were there for about an hour and a half. Weaky wore the DOC band for about 20 minutes, then we checked his head for red marks. He had some, we waited to see the time they would take to fade. The faded and the DOC band went back on.

The rules for the DOC band are as follows...

For the first 2 days...

  • Check the DOC band every 3-4 hours for red marks. Note the red marks, and how long they take to fade. If the time is less then an hour, put the DOC band back on.

  • Each time you take the DOC band off, wipe down both the DOC band and the head with dry towels.

  • He will sweat profusely because the body doesn't know what to do with all the heat. After a few days he will learn to better regulate the temperature.

After the first 2 days...

  • DOC band is to be worn for 23 hours.

  • The 1 hour a day it is off, I am to... Bathe Weaky, scrub the DOC band with a new toothbrush (I have the freebie ones from the Dentist) and 70-90% rubbing alcohol, and do Weakys torticollis exercises.

  • I am to inform anyone caring for Weaky about his DOC band and the care. 99% will be me, my parents and Spaghetti's parents will be the only others. I will probably have him sleep here until it's off. (We will see)

  • Dress him in layers, because he will sweat like crazy, (proof of amount of sweating? After a few hours, I take the DOC band off, he has the whole back of his neck and helmet are SOAKED. I am talking a whole sheet of bounty wet, soaked) La.y.er.s.

  • DOC band will be on for 3-4 months. And that will be either May 2nd or June 2nd.

So there are the rules. We are... well... ok. He slept from 8:30 last night to 3 this morning, up till 5, back down till 8 am. I think the sleeping went WAY better then we thought.

Besides Weaky and his helmet, Bagel thought that Weaky couldn't have all the fun, so she has some sort of a tummy bug, lots of cramps, only major poop blow outs ever other day. (the cramps result in fits of crying/screaming/can't sit still.

Oh it's fun over here. Spaghetti and I are running of little and or no sleep, I did manage to steal Weaky and we went to the store this morning (supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow!) plus I started dieting. Figured while Weaky was getting in shape, so would I. So I needed healthier foods.

Spaghetti and me have had the motto "Think the worst, and hope for the best" seems to work out for us. (not in a Negative Nancy kind of way, but a realistic/optimistic way. Plus we know it could be SO much worse.

(I heart this swing)

Wish us good luck on sleep tonight. Thank god for the swing. It is our savior! He WILL. NOT. sleep in his crib. (I bought 8 more D batteries just in case!)

Because of you.

So many things for this little man of mine. For him I gained 35 lbs for him to be created. I still have 12 lbs left, and another 15 to get to my goal weight after that.

I kicked ass on January 1st. I kicked ass all the way till January 9th when I went away on my girls Scrapbooking weekend.

I swore when we got home on the 12th I would go back to my 6:30 am wake up, coffee and yoga, eating healthy, mixing in a work out routine and all. Well it's January 30th and I have not even attempted to eat healthy since I got back.

BUT. Starting Monday.

Starting Monday, Weaky has to spend 3 hours at a doctors office getting fitted for his DOC band at Cranial Tech. He has moderate Plagiocephaly.

The condition is not uncommon, it's called plagiocephaly (pla'je-o-sef'ah-le), and often results from external forces applied to the soft infant skull.

It might sound complicated, but plagiocephaly literally means "oblique head" (from Greek: plagio = oblique, and cephale = head) It's called a parallelogram deformity because, if you look down on the infant's head (bird's-eye-view), this is the shape you will see. From this angle it looks as if half of the head has been pushed forward, often accompanied by misalignment of the ears, facial asymmetry and bulging forehead.

So because of this Weaky must wear a helmet for 3-4 months to reshape his perfect little head. And for 23 hours a day. I am in no way ready for the nights of no sleep to come. (they say the first 3 nights S.U.C.K.) Spaghetti has already taken of some night shifts to stay home with me, so I am not doing this alone. Again Spaghetti is a kick ass husband.

And so with this, I decided that if Weaky must go through 3-4 months of no fun to get into shape. So will I. Starting Monday, and yes I realize that will all the stress of his new DOC band, it is one hell of a time to start dieting and exercising, but we can do this together.

So good bye Bacon Bits, that I can eat in just one sitting. As a snack. By themselves.

And hello to yogurt. Chicken, fish, veggies and an infinite amount of water. I will work right along with my little man. And maybe it will stick, maybe if I bust my ass come May I will be one hot mama, or at least fit into something other then my sweats and Spaghetti's t-shirts.

What's up DOC.

Spike. Weaky, is what I am going to call him. I am tired of using "spike" as his name. We call him Weaky, so his new name here is Weaky. (previously known as Spike)

Above is the picture of him and Bagel getting Baptised. But that is not what this post is about. This post is to tell you that Weaky is going to be a bit over protected by me. Not that Bagel isn't. but there is just something small and fragile about Weaky that makes me protect him more.

Now even before Monday, I was like that with him.

So Monday... lets back the truck up to a few months ago. Weaky's ped. says that we should contact a specialist about his head. He thinks it is misshapen. I put it off, finally Spaghetti wants to call. I said go ahead. I am not excited about this but if it makes you sleep better at night go ahead.

He called, made the appointment, and we saw a bunch of people at this place called "Cranial Technologies" who make these bands for kids with flat heads. These helmet band things, are so they don't have to do surgery, it's worn like a boxer's training helmet.

So after pictures, and measuring, and looking, and more measuring, and some family history, Weaky was diagnosed with being moderate, in need for a helmet. He would have been mild and could have just let it get better. But the nice lady told us that his eyes are off center, and his ears are too. And the odds that both Spaghetti and I can't see more the a foot in front of our faces, if Weaky needed glasses, they would be crooked on his face.

I don't need my kid having amo for the bullies in school, so Spaghetti and I decided to go ahead and get this for him. We had to wait 48 hours for the insurance to call me and discuss what was covered.

This is a $3600.00 helmet, therapy, and all visits price tag. With our insurance, we have already met our deductible, so we would owe $200.00, IF and I say IF they can get it in this year. In two weeks it will change (our insurance plan is changing) it will be up to $450.00. The insurance has up to a month to get back to us.

More random details. Oh and let me tell you I am excited about this, Weaky would have to wear the helmet or http://www.cranialtech.com/index.htmlDOC, for 23 hours a day. CAN NOT get it wet, must check for sweating and irritated skin. Hoping to get this done ASAP, he would have to wear it for 3-4 months.

Plus since he favors his left side, he has torticollis and has some pulling in his shoulder, so we have to do exercises on and off through the day to get that fixed too.

Bagel was cute when we showed her what Weaky would have to wear, she wanted one too.

At first I was sad, and overly protective of Weaky on this subject. I didn't want to talk about it. So that is why my parents and Aerial found out just days before hand.

I am hoping this time next year the DOC band is all but a memory to us. I hope it does what it needs to, and we can move on. If your interested to see what it looks like, or read up on it. Check them out here, and all over this post.

I will keep you posted on what is going on, for now we just wait for the insurance, and until then I must do exercises with my Weaky man.
