- Check the DOC band every 3-4 hours for red marks. Note the red marks, and how long they take to fade. If the time is less then an hour, put the DOC band back on.
- Each time you take the DOC band off, wipe down both the DOC band and the head with dry towels.
- He will sweat profusely because the body doesn't know what to do with all the heat. After a few days he will learn to better regulate the temperature.
After the first 2 days...
- DOC band is to be worn for 23 hours.
- The 1 hour a day it is off, I am to... Bathe Weaky, scrub the DOC band with a new toothbrush (I have the freebie ones from the Dentist) and 70-90% rubbing alcohol, and do Weakys torticollis exercises.
- I am to inform anyone caring for Weaky about his DOC band and the care. 99% will be me, my parents and Spaghetti's parents will be the only others. I will probably have him sleep here until it's off. (We will see)
- Dress him in layers, because he will sweat like crazy, (proof of amount of sweating? After a few hours, I take the DOC band off, he has the whole back of his neck and helmet are SOAKED. I am talking a whole sheet of bounty wet, soaked) La.y.er.s.
- DOC band will be on for 3-4 months. And that will be either May 2nd or June 2nd.
So there are the rules. We are... well... ok. He slept from 8:30 last night to 3 this morning, up till 5, back down till 8 am. I think the sleeping went WAY better then we thought.
Besides Weaky and his helmet, Bagel thought that Weaky couldn't have all the fun, so she has some sort of a tummy bug, lots of cramps, only major poop blow outs ever other day. (the cramps result in fits of crying/screaming/can't sit still.
Oh it's fun over here. Spaghetti and I are running of little and or no sleep, I did manage to steal Weaky and we went to the store this morning (supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow!) plus I started dieting. Figured while Weaky was getting in shape, so would I. So I needed healthier foods.
Spaghetti and me have had the motto "Think the worst, and hope for the best" seems to work out for us. (not in a Negative Nancy kind of way, but a realistic/optimistic way. Plus we know it could be SO much worse.
(I heart this swing)
Wish us good luck on sleep tonight. Thank god for the swing. It is our savior! He WILL. NOT. sleep in his crib. (I bought 8 more D batteries just in case!)

PG has reflux and was diagnosed at 8 weeks. She would literally choke and gag like she had a massive hairball until we got her on the right medication. She had to be upright, so she slept in that same swing next to our bed until she was almost 5 months old. Godsend. We bought our D batteries at Sam's.
And I'm truly impressed at how gracefully you're handling everything with Weaky. You're an awesome mom, Feisty!
