30 days in pictures.

Not sure if you’ve seen the 30 days in pictures thing going around. Some of my younger FB friends are doing it, they are also photo junkies. But it’s a great idea to get conversation going, and so I’m going to do it there and here.

Enough said. Here is day one…

1. I am 5' 1/2"
2. My favorite color is Purple, but pink and turquoise are up there.
3. In my art room I have at LEAST 19 pairs of scissors.
3. I have two boxers. Both brindle, Maggie turning 8 next month. Sophie is 6.
4. I have two cats. Jordan, just 8 and Chloe who is 7.
5. Socially I enjoy staying IN. Too many social events in one week stress me out.
6. I've owned 12 different types of pets. Only 4 of those 12 being mammals.
7. The longest running job I've held is being a Independent Demonstrator for Stampin' Up! (rubber stamp and scrapbook company) for 6 years. Second longest job is being a Stay At Home Mom.
8. I drink Starbucks daily. But not from the store. I brew it here at home.
9. I've been married going on 10 years June 16th. ♥
10. Having children is the coolest thing. I have my own people.

Spin Cycle: 6th photo Meme

I was doing my daily blog visiting, and while visiting one of my favorites, Tiptoeing Through The Tulips, I found she did this Meme, it was going into your pictures, and finding the 6th file, and pulling the 6th picture. No cheating.

Bah I always cheat at these, I mean who really knows but me right? BUT this time I wanted to try and not cheat. So this is what I got...

Arizona Trip 2007 was the file, and this great picture of Spaghetti and Bagel was what I got! It really shows the baby in her face, god that was almost 2 years ago! She was just 17 months, OMG! That's how old Weaky is now! Wow...

So this picture was taken when we went with the IL's Mc to Arizona, my MIL got sick and ended up at the hospital for the entire week, my family that lived there was all sick with the flu (thank god for that first day at Walmart, where Scuz dropped the water! and I did get the last day of the trip too, see the Cheesecake Factory below...) and, and it fricken rained. Yes we were right outside of Phoenix Arizona, and it rained the whole damn week.

Except this day, we were able to go to the Amazing Phoenix Zoo! I love that zoo, mostly for the monkeys. This was a.we.some. you go in, and the little organ grinder monkeys (can't think of their real names at the moment) are right there.

Right there as in this is NOT a zoomed in picture, this is with in reach, and there is NOTHING to keep them in, they actually ran right by Spaghetti's legs! We kept Bagel up high, just in case, but I was just amazed at this. I mean the Brookfield Zoo here in Chicago has the Butterfly house where they just free fly, but a monkey house? Too freaking cool.

Still my favorite Zoo to date. I still have to visit the San Diego Zoo, in Cali, from what I hear it's the bestest yet.

I love that picture of Spaghetti and Bagel, thanks for the great memory of that day. And how I was able to go back almost two years to see my baby girl again.

Sophia had her baby!

Hooray! The animal lover I am just got the news from the Chicago Brookfield Zoo that there's a new addition to Tropic World: Asia.

On October 6, Sophia Bornean Orangutan gave birth to a daughter. As you can see from the photo above, the mother-child duo is sticking close together.

Very close together—orangutan infants actually cling to their mothers. It's a habit that keeps them from falling when mom needs to use both arms to swing from one tree limb to another.

While the newborns presence in itself is enough to bring smiles to all observers, there's another reason to celebrate her birth. Bornean orangutans are endangered. So endangered, in fact, that the species is facing extinction in the wild unless there's a halt to the ongoing deforestation of their habitat for palm oil production.

This brought tears to my eyes to know that my Zoo has an endangered Orangutan baby! Congrats Sophia!

Not so Wordless Wednesday. The Queen's office.

Many of us have an office. A space for paperwork, thinking, planning. This is my mom's version of her dream office. It has a comfy chair, a spot for Bagel to play, and her favorite place to be. Her office.

Then there is her veggie garden. Pumpkin and gourds grow behind her chair, tomato's to her right and peppers, and onions too. Those are Marigolds everywhere, the pink dish is her butterfly bath (they like shallow water to sip from) you can't see it but right by Bagel is a wood board that you have to walk over to get to this office (the Queen and Bagel office) these two chairs are right in the middle of the garden. Oh the board goes over a small rock creek my mom made. The house gutters run to it and it waters her garden.

Those blue wine bottles upside down to the left of my mom, are her funky decor. (her neighbors helped her empty them.) Oh and the Queen has hummingbird feeders all over, the are EVERYWHERE! Its really cool if you hold still, they buzz right up to you. Crazy cuz you can't see there wings, since they move so fast! Its like a Minny wingless bird, just floating in front of you. But look fast, because they zip away fast!

My mom's garden is amazing. It's a fun place for her to get away all spring, most of summer it's too hot, so she works early, just maintaining it. Then fall she preps it for winter. As soon as April is here, she is out in her favorite getaway place. Her garden.
