Here to test you mommy knowledge.

I gots me some questions for you mommies out there... I will take advice, tips and random smart ass comments... thanks...

Q. How old was your child when you stopped supervising them on the stairs?

Q. When did you start to imply the "time out" and what works for you?

Q. How much T.V. a day does your tot watch? No really, the real amount of time. And what do they watch?

Q. If your a SAHM, then who does your tot socialize with?

Q. Do you do any mommy and me stuff with your tot? Baby?

I thank anyone who wants to answer any questions. So in return I have some fun tips that work for me.

Bagel has monsters in her room, I have narrowed it down, by asking her, where they come from. She has 2 floor vents, under her windows. So each night I spray the vents with Calgon, body spray. Whatever, it works, she stands right next to me and supervises me spraying the monster repellent spray.

Now I just need to figure out how to get her to STAY in bed. For small child's sake, she sleeps next to the door, or in the corner, ALL THE TIME! WTF? Any ideas? Does it really matter?

Thanks again!

It's been awhile since I had a 2 1/2 year old but I'll try to remember! Hope that it doesn't sound too much like ASSvice.

Q. How old was your child when you stopped supervising them on the stairs?

We had a ranch until Bailey was four so this wasn't really an issue. We did have stairs going to our basement at our old house, though, and Bailey fell down the entire flight on her 2nd birthday. Since Bagel is kind of on the small side, I would keep supervising for awhile. My mom always taught us to go down on our butts or bellies, which is safer, too.

Q. When did you start to imply the "time out" and what works for you? I would say at age two. One minute for each year. At that young, you might need to put her in something that she can't get out of like a high chair.

Q. How much T.V. a day does your tot watch? No really, the real amount of time. And what do they watch? I've always been kind of lenient with the tv. Maybe a couple of hours a day? Bailey was really into Barney and Wiggles at that age. Sometimes it was all I could do to get a break.

Q. If your a SAHM, then who does your tot socialize with? Back when we lived in Illinois and Bailey was little, we did story time at the library all the time. Gotta love how it is free. I know the one closest to our old house would do songs and toys and bubbles along with a couple of stories. We also did play dates frequently (one of Bailey's best friends to this day is someone we met at story time). There was also a lot of time when it was just me and her. I think that Bailey took her first swim lessons at the Y around 2-3. And there was a couple of times that we did other classes at the Y or Park district. There's always the mall playground which is nice during this time of the year. She might also start enjoying Chuck E. Cheese. Do any of the local skate rinks have "Tot Time" anymore? You used to be able to bring a tricycle/big wheel/push toy and run around on the rink during the Winter...
You should check out the Dupage Children's Museum. It is so cool! Tons of stuff for Bagel to play with. We used to have a membership for there and the zoo. My mom got it for us for Christmas one year. It is a great escape when it is cold and yucky outside.

Q. Do you do any mommy and me stuff with your tot? Baby?
Just the stuff mentioned above. We would also do tons of unstructured stuff--shopping, painting nails, curling hair, cooking, reading, artwork. I always tried to involve her in whatever I was doing. All kids really want is their parents' attention. As for the baby...we do a lot of singing, dancing, tickling, walks in stroller, So Big!, Pat-a-cake, ABC's, point out body parts, read, Baby Mozart movie, etc.

I love your idea about the monsters! As for getting her to stay in bed...I have no clue! Does she have a bed rail? Is it possible that the floor is more comfortable for her? Maybe put her mattress on the floor? Is it too high for her right now??

My daughter turns 2 in a few weeks, and I'm sure she can go down them OK, but we don't let her without holding our hand. I'm kind of leaning towards age 3.

Q. When did you start to imply the "time out" and what works for you?

We started this around 15-16 months, but she thought it was a joke. We will put her in her crib and take all of her toys out of it, and she doesn't like it at all and it SORT OF gets the point across. However, she just learned to climb out of her crib, so this might not work for much longer. Sometimes a firm pop on the butt or hand gets the trick with her, but she's pretty bull headed and doesn't listen.

Q. How much T.V. a day does your tot watch? No really, the real amount of time.

Real time, I'd say two hours or so. And by "real time" I mean a program that she would watch like Sesame Street or the Food Network (she loves to watch Alton Brown and Rachel Ray). I will keep the TV on, though, but she mostly does her own thing and doesn't tend to pay it much attention. I try to keep it off as much as I can.

Q. If your a SAHM, then who does your tot socialize with?

It's mostly just me, my husband, and my mom, but as far as people her age there's a girl down the street and her sister. We don't go to any play groups, though we probably should, and I might start her in a Mother's Morning Out kind of program soon.

Q. Do you do any mommy and me stuff with your tot? Baby?

We don't go to any formal programs. We like to color and watercolor together, and she is BIG in to books, so we'll read them. It's mostly just free play around the house or we'll go to the playground when it's nice out. She is just happy to go grocery shopping or to random stores. That's fun enough for her.

MY KIDS (I'M NOT SHOUTING JUST MAKING MY ANSWERS STAND OUT) DO THE BELLY SLIDE DOWN THE STAIRS BY ABOUT 12 OR 13 MONTHS THEY DON'T TRY TO WALK THEM TILL THEY ARE CLOSER TO TO. THE BELLY SLIDE ON THEIR OWN BY ABOUT 15MONTHS.

Q. When did you start to imply the "time out" and what works for you?

ABOUT 18 MONTHS IF THEY ARE NAUGHTY THEY SIT ON THE STAIRS OR I HAVE ANAUGHTY CHAIR. MY FRIEND HAS GOT A FREE CARPET SAMPLE FOR THE FLOOR AS A NAUGHTY SPOT. AND 1 MIN FOR EVERY YEAR THEY ARE OLD.

WHEN THEY THROW A FIT THEY GO TO THIER ROOM AGIAN STARTING AT 18MONTHS OR SO. BY 20 TO 22 MONTHS IF THEY START TO THROW A FIT I CAN JUST TELL THEM THAT FITS BELONG IN THEIR ROOM AND THEY WILL GO THERE ON THEIR OWN AND THEY WILL STAY UNTIL THEY ARE DONE.

I really don't want to admit how much I let my 4 yr old watch TV though in my defense it is mostly stuff on PBS.
