It’s official. I’m an adult.

Here’s the background on that… Once upon a time, Spaghetti and I were engaged to be married. In that time we agreed on this.

“We will NEVER grow up. We WILL do adult things, like pay bills, buy a house, care for children. BUT in that process even though we LOOK like adults, we will NOT grow up. Promise?”

I even painted a cartoon of us on this conversation. (I should scan that into the computer…) But the ‘official’ part comes with realizing these things…

1. I’m excited that today is day 3 of waking, on my own, at 6:30 am. As a result going to bed at no later then 10:30 pm. AND so the washer/dryer already running, coffee is half drank, dogs fed, best part. I got an hour by myself this morning!

2. My girlfriend time, is either on Facebook chat, or phone with my BFF. (I should work on that, I DO need more in real life friend time)

IMG_0593

3. I look forward to a crazy breakfast of  an almost 5 year old girl telling her brother how to eat, but all he wants to do is hold his Wuzzy Bear and suck his thumb.

IMG_0643

4. The big event of the week is on Wednesday’s and it’s my daughters Jazz Lyrical class. (see her at the end of the line. See Weaky in stroller (yes in his footies) dancing along.)

5. The most comparable thing I have to a hang over is ‘OMG I stayed up till after midnight, watching a movie, AND had junk food! I am insane! That can’t happen again! I’ll need to sleep till at least 8:00 am to function!!’

IMG_0674

6. My husbands getting dressed and going out, is to play tug of war with the dogs for 30 minutes in the snow.

me painting

7. We have painted the VERY bright and playful blue bathroom grey, now with accents of red and black.

And NOW are in the process of selling Spaghetti’s pool table, to turn the BIGGEST room in the house, the room that is right off the kitchen, the ‘Sports room’, the brick RED room, with FULL size pool table, and TONS of sports memorabilia, into a comfortable t.v. room for the WHOLE family. (In my defense against changing this room, we have NOT played pool at this table since May 2010!!) While planning the room change, Spaghetti sighed, looked at me and said… “Don’t tell anyone this. But we are becoming more and more like grown ups.” Sigh. We are. But I’m almost enjoying it.

8. I drink my coffee black.

That right there should say enough. I used to drink a cup of sugar with a bit of coffee. Not kidding. 4 TABLESPOONS of sugar to a CUP of coffee?! Went black. Cold turkey, dropped 5 lbs REAL fast. Now to find a way to drop the other 30 lbs. real fast.

9. Planning for retirement is something we’ve been working on for 12 years already. Not kidding. The 401K hotline is on speed dial in Spaghetti’s phone, checking it at least once every two weeks.

AND the number 10 reason why I’m officially an adult…

10. This weekend is my BFF’s sisters birthday. Now each year they go all out. As in ALL out. Get hair did, shop all day one day, go to Chicago, stay in a fancy pants hotel for a few days, see the city, drink fruffy drinks, go to clubs. It’s a 3 day, sometimes more event.

Sounds awesome. And not to poo poo it, cuz I’d go if it was me. But for years I was happy for them, but that tiny pang of “I’d have to take out a small loan, get a baby sitter, and some one would have to pry these pajama/yoga pants and my favorite Glee T-shirt away from me and I think I have a pair of heels around here somewhere.” it was a thing where I was ecstatic that my BFF was getting an awesome weekend away, and bonding with her sister. (I did get to attend once at dinner via drunk dial by them. THAT was funny)

But it was never a jealous thing, more of a it would take a small army to get me to be able to go out. And I was wishing I could do that.

Now you ask? I’m ecstatic that they are out, having a blast but I’d rather stay in. I enjoy my family, my kids, and a hot weekend for me away from my family? Would be a 2 night, 3 day crop. Where I drag ALL my scrapbook supplies to a place that is designed for nothing but scrapbookers. I would eat, sleep (maybe) and scrapbook. I would spend the time away from my family, scrapbooking my family!

And now that pang of ‘I wish I could do that’ is gone. Elated they are having a great time. But at the age of 32 1/2 I’m good right now. (and yes I still say 1/2, I’m saying I’m an adult, not a grown up)

I’m good with home. Kids. Husband. Pets. Reality t.v.

Dance class is my big event. My social life is Survivor, Amazing Race, Real World, Bachelor, Grey’s, Storage Wars and Jersey Shore. And I love it.

So it’s official. I am an… Adult.

(one feisty, unconventional, silly, sometimes childish, and ridiculously goofy adult)

Sunrise

IMG_1016

I loved the way the clouds each had bits of sunshine on them, but still a dark side too. I loved how there were SO many clouds up there. I don’t normally see the sunrise.

My bedroom is on the west side of the house, and I am usually still in bed at this time. But that New Years resolution of routine is finally here. Well part of it. My sink is gross, my coffee is left over from yesterday, and I am doing some lame attempt at getting my laundry in order.

BUT going to bed at or before 10 is what IS working. It also keeps ups from snacking late. I will let you know on Sunday night, and Monday night (Spaghetti’s Friday and Saturday) if we followed through or were up super late and ate bad foods!

I’m also enjoying blogging this early! I don’t have screaming kids around, it’s pure silence right now, it’s almost maddening! As much as I have this free time, the whole hour of silence, I could start dishes, or laundry, but I’m just enjoying the sun start to cover the dried grass in the front yard, and watch the Robins (yes Robins!) poke around for worms!

It’s a wonderful morning and I hope it stays this way. I hope I get more mornings like this. Where I sit on my big couch, in the corner, with my water, my laptop on the end table.

Wishful thinking!

Feisty

ps. did you guys read anywhere about the font ‘Comic Sans’ and how people are ‘over it’ I found it amusing because that is STILL my favorite font. Easy to read, bold and still not as boring as Ariel! Just wondering…

How to Comment. FB or Blogger style.

Dear Blogsphere family. I'm sorry. I've missed you. It's been too long since my last post and I am ashamed to say when my last comment was. Thanks to Dual Mom for still reading and commenting (thanks to the lurkers too, it's still creapy people. Comment so I have believe that your still here. Kinda like roll call?)

Anyway my excuses for not blogging are...

and...

so with some liquad happy...

I write you this...

Let's talk about my other internet site I love porn. Facebook. It's great. Wonderful. Fantastic. It's brought me to tears over the people I have reconnected with on it. Love it.

Most people say I am one of the most amusing FBer's they read, and I often make their days with my witty comments. I don't so much see witty, I just see smartassness on my daily rants about being trapped a SAHM with a 4 and 2 year old. It's bound to be funny, cute or gross.

But I have a complaint. Maybe I have been trained by blogger to well, or maybe I've just got way more to say then everyone else. My issue is not when people put their "what's on your mind" status, that's fine put what you want.

It's the comments.

Like when you see someone with Birthday wishes... I almost don't want to say "Happy Birthday" with everyone else knowing my email will get loaded with everyone they know saying "Happy Birthday!!" I also don't like when people point out the obvious.

Like if you say you fell down the stairs. And you have responses like... "Ouch" or "That hurt huh?" or my favorite when they have nothing to say "LOL" save your fingers and keep it to yourself.

Don't get me wrong I like to leave comments but I try to make them worthwhile to both me and the readers. Maybe it's just me. But same goes for blogger. When people leave comments just to leave comments, it's stupid. It doesn't count in my book. It needs to be personal. Kinda like your trying?

So with me and Blogger, I won't comment unless I've got something to say, and I won't read blogs unless I have the time to really comment. That's why we blog. Or at least I like to blog to get comments. It's like reasurance that someone out there still reads you. Or your not just being stalked by readers. (creepy I tell you)

Alright I am off my rambly post on FB commenting, but to end this and leave you with something of worth, be sure to check out the book

"If you give a mom a martini..." is a great little book with 100 ways to find 10 blissful minutes for yourself, lots of great ideas, and many of them I do. One of my favorite ideas to do is "Get your pregame on" and I do just that, I get up before the kids. Around my house I can, my babies are wonderful and sleep till 8 or 9 so I get up at 7, get my coffee, and read my email. Sometimes I have my iPod in, and breakfast done before the kids. So I am up and ready to go.

I also like that it's not a story, each page is a new idea, since I don't have many freebee minutes to myself it works. Alright I need to end this post and go blog surfing. Comment my ass off and tell my bloggy friends I still love them. Until then, LEAVE ME COMMENTS YOU WANKERS!!

Lists, Lectures and Laundry

I called my dearest friend Maternal Mirth last week for a chat. We got into discussing housework, and she told me she had lists.

Now I often hear of lists that people make, and prior to our conversation I had just started the week before of making a list for the next day, of things that had to be done. It all started when Sophie had to take antibiotics and get a foot soak twice a day (upper toe nail infection) so to remember I would write it down. I also started to add things that were random, like calling the Village Hall to find out what that ungodly noise was coming from the bathroom when you used the water (I thought the pipes were going to burst the whole damn floor humms and shakes. The Village Idiot  Plumming inspector said to push a button inside the toilet. I seriously thought he was blowing smoke up my ass because I was a girl, but needless to say he was right. We have to do it each time it happens. To weird though. ANYWAY off track here...)

So these lists were becoming a daily thing, and quite useful. My thought process on lists prior to this was, What the fuck, I've got 704 things to do today, and NO time to write it all down. Fuck it.

Not fast forward a week to my conversation with Maternal Mirth, and how she has a "list" that she hand wrote, and she photo copied it to check off. She says she tries to do this list 2x's a week. She also has a "maids list" of more detailed work (think dusting baseboards, cleaning blinds) this list she tries to do 1-2x's a month.

Key word "try". I asked her to email me her lists, and as soon as I got them I printed one copy, then sat down one morning with my cup of inspiration juice, Starbucks coffee! in my hand and tweeked her list according to my house...lets just say her one sheet is my two sheets. I also have more rooms. She has more square footage but mine is divided up into tinier rooms.

I wasn't too crazy with my list, keeping it simple for me, but enought that I could keep up with housework. The maids list is probably not going to be used for quite some time, because I need to get into a routine of simple housework before I get out my rubber gloves and Q-Tips for the detailing.

So I called her a few days later, because I was sitting on Facebook for hours, I had a messy house, and needed inspiration to get off my lazy ass and do something. I was looking for a lecture, possibly some yelling and screaming, telling me how horrible of a housewife I was. What did I get?

Sweet Maternal Mirth saying "Don't be hard on yourself. I said in my email that I TRY to do my lists. So just try. If you make your housework evil and chore, you won't want to do it. If you just do a bit at a time, and reward yourself with things like the art room, and facebook, you will feel much better."

As much as I was looking for a screaming lecture, or at least a stern voice, she has known me for close to 3 decades, and knows that force doesn't work for me. Glitter, sunshine and rainbows is what inspires me to work. So be it.

I do need to keep with the lists, I picked Thursdays and Sundays as my work days. Thursday is the day after my classes I teach so I am not concerned with them, and Sunday is like everyone elses Fridays (Spaghetti is off work Mondays & Tuesdays)

I am hoping that I can keep with the lists, and my laundry, if anyone cares (is anyone still reading this excitement?) is doing well. I am keeping up with it for the most part, I am trying (again key word is TRY) to keep it off the floors, and keep it moving. I know Maternal Mirth can do her's twice a week, I do believe if I did that, I would never keep up. Maybe someday, till then I do laundry almost every day.

There's your update on life around here. It's been cleaning, and purging. I have an enormous garage sale coming up on May 1st, we set up April 30th, and let the early birds pre shop a bit, it's a subdivision thing and people come from as far as Chicago to shop! (Were bout an hour away)

I will be spending all my free time from now till then (besides Weaky's birthday Sunday!) getting ready! Oh and Happy Earth Day!!

Bagel in pictures

What's new with my Bagel? Well let me tell you...

Art room

Bagel was freaking excited about her jumbo glue stick. At this point (3 1/2 yrs) she uses scissors, glue sticks, and my paper cutter (ITS SAFE, and I am ALWAYS around for it!) she uses crayons, and colored pencils, she has lost the freedome of markers, since she ALWAYS has an urge to draw a full beard, mustache, and uno brow with the darkest or brightest color marker.

She loves to stamp, and now that she uses my Big Shot (die cut machine with Stampin' Up! and Sizzix) she loves that too! She loves her playdough, and her paints, and her sticker books too.

This is bagel with glue stick, and her purple paper making valentines for everyone. She glued on die cut hearts and butterflies she die cut out with Gigi the other day.

Bagel also likes to play in my laundry when I am folding it. So instead of getting frusterated at her playing in my clean clothes I have her search for her stuff, and go put it in the right drawer, she thinks this is a big deal. So do I.

Bagel loves Starbucks as much as I do, she and I found on by the dentist, so we go eat sugary things before we go their (she's been getting fitted for an appliace, retainer like thing, so we've gone a few times this month already!) Nothing like a sparkly donut and an organic juice drink (looks like apple sauce in a green pouch)
She also loves to cheese really big for those mommy and Bagel shots!
She wasn't mad, just very chill at the dentist, no nap and the sugar buzz had worn off. I agree with Maternal Mirth, this is one of my favorite shots of her lately. (BTW, we call her dentist, Dr. Purple, this lady has a fetish with purple like Bagel and I do. She has a HUGE purple chair, purple stools, purple walls. But even better? She has purple spit cups, purple gloves and purple bibs to drool on! AND purple heart sunglasses to borrow when you sit in her chair. She is awesome!)
Bagel was bad. Bagel yelled at me to "Shut it up" I gave her a time out. Explained it was mean to say that to mommy. She appologized then wanted to call Queen to tell her. It's like her confessional. My mom loves it, and I like that she can go to the Queen for anything like that even at such a young age.
I had to stop by my dear friend D. Mudd Pimpster's house
(BTW, this is her "THIS NKOTB CONCERT REUNION IS BETTER THEN MY WEDDING DAY"
excited face. Your welcome D Mudd.)
for some WW papers. I brought along Bagel so she could meet D. Mudd's daughter, K Bug. She is just 2, but they played nice together for a bit. I was excited to see them together, and can't wait for more play dates in the future.
Bagel also said something cute last night, she was up late folding laundry with me, and I had a pile for Weaky's room, so I asked her to quietly put it in front of his door, I will put it away in the morning. She said she would "Tick Toe" to his room. Which was her shuffling her feet down the hall. Too funny!

And if you know of the "Tinkerbell" movie well since Bagel has declared her self Tinkerbell, it only seems fit that I am
Queen Clarion. Sure I was sad to not be Tinkerbell anymore, but with my old age (HA!) and being a mom, I like the promotion. On that note she also said that the Queen is...
Fairy Mary. To cute, looks alot like my mom!!
Hope you enjoyed another one of my rambling posts, I need to keep remembering to use my fancy signature I worked so hard on in paint (not the misspelled one either) look forward to a fun post by the cats. They are tired of seeing Sophie on here all the time.

It's a big deal to me damn it.

Dear Flylady,
I found your site 17 months ago. I was smitten with your idea's, I made a control journal and I read ALL of it, instead of doing things one day at a time, I plowed through thinking I could do it all. I'm sure you can guess what happened.
I crashed, and burned.
It has been an ongoing battle for me keeping up with the house. Well let me tell you a bit about us here at the Mc house. I am a SAHM, and my DH Spaghetti, works 2 jobs, and a 3rd in the summer. We have two children, Bagel who is 3 1/2 and Weaky who is 21 months. We also have two boxers, and two cats. Phew. So with that said, Spaghetti works, and works, and I get ALL the house hold responsibilities.

I am getting better at picking up after myself, and everyone else, I have realized that CHAOS is how we live, and then when guests are coming over, we choose the room they won't see and shove everything in there. And that room then suffers for months before the clutter is removed.

My biggest issue? Laundry. I shudder at the word. I have always done poorly at keeping up with laundry, even when I lived at home and my mom did my laundry!!

I found an older blog post about how I was sitting in a 1x1 square of carpet in my bedroom. The ONLY part of my carpet you could see. The other 8x8 floor space, and 3x10 space was COVERED about 2 feet high with clothes. Some dirty some clean. I later found a blog post on how I had 18 garbage bags, and 5 laundry baskets FULL of clean clothes to be put away. Amazingly we still had clothes on our backs, we just had WAY to much clothes.

Fast forward to summer 2009, I purged like a good flybaby. I was donating BAGS of clothes, my daughters clothes went to a friend who was having a baby girl (I gave her 12 bags!) and my son's 3 bags of clothes went to my cousin for her baby boy.

Each time I donated I felt a weight come off my shoulders, it made me want to purge more! I needed to sort through the clothes, decide what was to keep, what was to hopefully fit into (those are bagged and in the attic. I wrote a date on them, and I have 1 year to fit into them, or they go too!) My husband lost weight so we had to go through his clothes as well.

So if you want to know my old habits of washing, drying and putting away? Well they were slim and none. I washed, then dried. Then it sat for a few days. Then I would have to re wash the stinky clothes in the washer, and yes even some of them got mold on them from this lazy habit! I would carry the clothes up two floors to our bedroom, and dump the clean clothes on the floor, I would do this all day, dumping 4 big baskets onto the floor. Well after caring for two small children all day, the last thing I wanted to do was fold or hang clothes. We ALWAYS lived out of baskets, or the floor pile. I would iron as need be.

(yes we lived like this for 11 years)

Or if we even were close to catching up with laundry, lets say I had a load in the wash, a load in the dryer, and a load to go in. To me that was caught up, I would ignore the evil chore for a week! Well you know where that got me. Back to piles and piles of laundry.

It was frustrating, making us late for work, for family get togethers, not to mention I would get stressed trying to dress myself, and family from a mess of a monster pile! I remember one day, walking into my daughters room who was 2 1/2 at the time, she had dumped over a basket of clean clothes in her room, and strewn them about. I asked her why she did that. She said to be like you mommy.

I was sad that I was that role model. I cried to myself, and vowed that I would have to teach her the right way to be like mommy.

After the great purge was over, and the Holiday's ended. I started on January 2nd 2010, I started doing loads of laundry like crazy, usually 3-4 a day, folding and hanging them as I went, never dumping a clean load onto the floor like before, if I was too tired to fold, it stayed IN the basket.

As of today. January 30th 2010, I have caught up.

I cried. I am SO proud of pushing myself to get this done right. It has been 11 years of laundry piles, and procrastinating, but I did it.

I did it by myself, no need for my husband to try and take the kids away for a day so I can fold, or have my mom take bags home to help out. I needed to do it myself. I thought of you and your quotes and comments often, your Tweets asking me where my laudry is often saved the day.

My Dear Husband and I can now enjoy our retreat of a bedroom like we should, it's pretty and a treat to go to.

Thank you Flylady. Thank you.

Flybaby,

Queen of Feisty

P.S. share this message with anyone who needs it. I hope it inspires. Now I am off to see how many nights in a row I can shine my sink, so far 4 nights in a row is my max, but I am trying, I fly and crash, and fly and crash, but I just keep flying...

Blogger note: This is an email I sent to the flylady, if you need to get organized in anyway, or start cleaning check her out. She is A.MAZ.ING, and no I did not refer to my husband as Spaghetti and myself as the Queen of Feisty for real... silly readers... and noe that I said on FB a few days ago that I was caught up, I was with the people clothes, I have spent a few days washing rugs, and blankets. I can proudly say that today I have NO laundry.

Fuck you Friday!

It's been forever since I've done a Fuck You Friday post. So here are some fun Fuck You's I need to get out there... enjoy!!

  • Fuck you to Comcast. Your new DTA box is shit, I now have to replace the one I just put in. And fuck you to your customer service people, who are extremely nice, and so I can't yell at them. Damn you all.
  • Fuck you to the P90X work out, I do believe because of the Kenpo X I can not turn my head. The whole, look forward punch forward, look back kick back routine, that I still can't get right may or may not have me turning my whole body to look to the side. That folks is a small problem...
  • Fuck you to the weather. Yes I know it's fall. I got it. Seen 31 of them now. But could I get those pretty fall days where it's chilly but sunny? I mean does anyone remember what the sun looks like?
  • Fuck you to laundry. Because of my lack of doing, folding, sorting, purging. I have a 3 foot high by 3 feet wide and approx 8 feet long pile in my loft. It's clean, but let me tell you, I have completely dug out ALL the clean underwear. (I had to free ball it yesterday!)
  • Fuck you to Spaghetti's medical insurance. Because you are now going to cost us $400 a month we are dropping to the middle plan. We would like SOME of his check please.
  • Fuck you to the toys. We have SO many fucking little toys. I mean seriously. I just did the attic shuffle, moving in old toys, to condense. I thought it was a great idea to put those plastic drawer things under the t.v. cabinet for smaller toys. That was just a invite for Weaky to pull the drawers out, fling the toys, and then stand on top of the drawer container, to only have Bagel scream like she is standing on acid floors for you to get down or you will get hurt. I need a dumpster!!

That is all the Fuck You's I have for today. Hope you enjoyed. Let me know if I missed anything would ya?

The piles.

I have piles of piles.

I have piles of lists that go on and on.

I seem to have an art of making lists, in fancy notebooks, on fancy tablets, that get put away and never seen.

I have piles of lists to find those fancy lists that I put away.

I have piles of laundry that need to be washed.

I have a husband that works sometimes two jobs a day, and works out once a day, and has his sleep wear (when he's allowed to sleep) that man alone could keep me in the laundry business.

My daughter Bagel is a Diva in the making, every time she come out of her room from a nap, or just to stop by she comes out in a different outfit, and clean underwear (I can't complain, I mean she must change her underware about 2x's a day)

Then you have the little 17 month old who is learning to self feed, and he has NO fear whatsoever of dirt, and bugs. (all goes in mouth or rubbed into clothes) that little tot is EASILY 2 outfits a day.

Myself? Ah I wear the stylish p.j. pants and tshirt (or long sleeved if it's chilly) around the house. I try to make the same outfit last a few days for laundry's sake anyway. If I go out I will fashion myself a clean outfit. But for the sake of ungodly laundry piles, I again repeat I would SO be in a nudist colony.

I have piles of blogs in my head. Is that possible? I just do things and think, this would be great blog material. I do believe that being on facebook has allotted me to cheat a bit, and post my currant thoughts there. But I would rather have them here.

Oh and the piles of toys.
Lots of those.
The front living room is the designated "toy room" I try to keep it as picked up as possible. I really need to purge. There are so many of those fucking little McD's toys my mother and MIL pick up for the kids, plus all the little peoples and cars, and balls. (I swear there are about 6 balls just waiting for me to walk by late at night so I can slip and break my damn neck)

Weaky's room has some toys too, some as in two houses (a small town and a castle) and a few people. Bagel's room has only stuffed toys, and one book. Because she WILL never sleep with toys in there. BUT I am seriously thinking about giving her a few more in there just because she seems to be doing better. (maybe when we paint her room...)

I have for the most part tamed the paper clutter to a small mountain. No really it's filed, or shredded. The mail barely makes it in the door and it's tossed, shredded and read and put away. (I am good at that!)
Oh and there are piles of pictures. Sounds bizarre, but being an avid scrapbooker, I have PILES of pictures, and I do scrapbook often, I just take about 80 pictures a month!
So excuses for not blogging? Nah.
Just lettin you know I am up to my eyeballs in just about everything. (like those fascinating people on the show "Hoarders"...but not really... more of a figuratively kinda way...)
(hoping to get my other post on how the P90X is doing done and out there soon!)

Cofessions of a Tardy and Unorganized Mom

If you read Parenting the Early Years magazine, check out the September 2009 issue, pages 121 starts a great article on Tardy Mom's.

Now I am one of those. And this story is around a family who has children in school, and weekend sports. The son's kindergarten "report card" had 50 tardies on it! Now as surprising as this is, I could SO see this being me!

I have been learning, alot. I also confirmed with this story many of us forget to add in the "load time" which is counting for one last diaper change, or mess, to load up the stroller, coats, shoes, hoodies, sippies, water, cell phones, diapers...you name it. So adding in an extra 15 minutes just for loading up the car, is a very important part of the leaving ritual.

I have started counting backwards when I am getting ready to leave. I start with when we have to be somewhere. Let's say a party starts at 2 pm. If the party is 1/2 hour away, giving unload time too (about 5 more minutes) now we are at 1:25 pm to leave.

LEAVE at that time. Which means if I need 15 minutes for "loading" everyone and everything into the car. Now we are at 1:10. Depending on the season, summer is less complicated, winter involves coats, hats, boots, ugg. We may need about 20 minutes to leave. Weather too adds into drive time, good god at this rate a 2 pm party means I should leave at 9 am!

Don't forget the time it takes for me to pack. Just a day of errands? A diaper bag for Weaky, and some extra clothes for Bagel. I pack a small cooler, with snacks and sippies, extra milk too.

But I guess getting this all out the night before and ready would be ideal. I guess also planning to run the errands or the store, prior to my normal spur of the moment idea, while the kids are grumpy and in desperate need of naps would be genius on my part too.

I want to be organized. I don't need to be OCD, and obsessive about a schedule. I don't ever see that one happening. (yes friends. laugh to yourself. I know, I know) but maybe a bit less carefree about my planning, get a schedule down for events. Get things together the night before, and maybe there would be less hostility on my part getting the dogs to there crates, the kids in the car and more happiness in the car, a happy ride. v.s. a non speeding, but get the eff out of my way mom who snaps at every whine and sippy cup plea.

Even with out the kids around. Let's say I have a free day! I again, am late. Why? I mean I have NO one but myself to get ready. But I am so involved in enjoying my free time, strolling around the house, rocking out to loud music, reading a magazine, scrolling around online, that I still forget I take forever to pack myself up and get ready to go also.

About a year ago, well even before that I started reading organizing books. (I know some of you this comes natural, and you may think a book on this is silly. But to people like me I need it ALL spelled out, the notes and lists prewritten. Hand held through the WHOLE process) These books along with the help of Flylady have really started me in the right direction. I have reminders emailed, Facebooked, and Twittered to me to do my laundry, clean up a "hot spot,"shine my sink before bed, put on my shoes to clean the house. I mean this whole housewife thing is hard. And adding SAHM to the list is insane!

How about a Personal Banker refinancing a mortgage for someone?

Need IRA advice?

Cashier at a Casino paying out $14,000 dollars to someone?

Holding down a 85 lb Rottweiler to get a nail trim?

Route the schedule and map for a concrete company to deliver underground pipes to ComEd work site in Chicago?

Short order cook at a very popular pizza restaurant during the weekend rush?

Sure. I did all those things. Fast, and efficiently.

But after thinking about it, those are all hard jobs too. But after some wondering why I just can't master the multitasking of this job? I mean it's my house, my stuff, my rules, my kids, my schedule?

Oh... that's it, isn't it?...

It's my responsibility. That's why. Because I am the boss. And since I seem to be a bit more relaxed and wing it 99% of the time, and the thought of a daily schedule, seems not so freeing to me. I balk at the thought of being so strict with myself.

But after reading this article, and understanding that even though my kids are not in any school (yet! Next fall!) or activities (Tumbling in a few months!) I really need to just get my day to day errands set, my things more organized around the house.

And with this I am realizing that with a bit less of mess, or a lot less of mess, my life and chaos may go to the wayside.

I need to warn you about the next picture. Some of you may real back in your computer chairs, or turn your heads like a curious puppy wondering if this was staged for blogging purpose.

Umm... sadly. No.

This is my bedroom floor. I do live out of laundry baskets, and the floor. This picture was taken yesterday. This is something I seriously fail in. I hate laundry to no end, I think it is the worst punishment for anyone to have to do.
If you don't know, I have started a whole separate blog on organizing my house (you guessed right that that blog ended faster then it started. But check out this post on my 18 lonely socks. I have often posted about a hate I have for laundry, and I would join a nudist colony if I could.
You have to want to be organized. Again may be silly to some to not want to be organized. But I had to want to put the effort into it.
I want to put the effort into it.
See how "Sleeping with the Enemy" my cabinets are?

And there was a point where you couldn't even see the bathroom floor there was so many clothes on it. The counters were full of clothes, and just stuff. Now this is the cleanest room in my house.

I am trying. I will get this. And I do believe my schedule will reflect my home.
(yes I painted the bathroom with no tape on purpose. And that is an original Blue Man Group painting done on stage sold for $40 after the show, first one to get there gets it!)

Random Sunday Morning.

  • It is 3 degrees out. Before the windchill. There are 40 mph winds. Which equals freeze your privates off, stings to breathe, make you cry like a bitch cold. So I drove to McD's for breakfast (thanks Aerial, I blame you and your coke sucking through the straw sound I heard from you yesterday)
  • Bagel was elated to see me home with a hash brown and breakfast burrito, AND a chocolate milk (special treat)
  • I uploaded and burned about 100 pictures, I will try not to show them all at once to you all, but it's hard to hold back.
  • I am in the process of packing for my beloved weekend getaway to a scrapbook retreat less then 3 weeks away... sigh... I know, 3 weeks, but I thrive off of organizing pictures, and filing my 12x12 pretty scrapbook papers. I spent a week just on accessories alone. Then a week on tools, and inks, stamps, markers, chalks, paints... it's my obsession, go get your own.
  • We faxed the request to NOT pay our taxes through our mortgage payments, giving me $479 more a month (our tax return is going to pay for the taxes, don't worry!) Just shuffling the funds around.
  • I still have a retarded amount of laundry to put away. And for those of you keeping track there are still 9 garbage bags of clean clothes stacked in Weaky's closet from Thanksgiving shove-the-shit-people-are-coming-over, obviously we are not in need of most of those items, but I am noticing a shortage of underware and socks.
  • We are all sick in some degree. Bagel is a mucus monkey, Weaky just sound stuffy, Spaghetti is always sick, and I woke up with a sore throat but McD's coke and Breakfast burritos, plus the grease from the hash browns has coated my throat.

I don't wanna be a grown up!

Before Spaghetti and I got married, we made an agreement. An agreement that we would not grow up. We would never be to old to have fun or be childish. But with that being said, we knew that we had to do adult things from time to time.

So with that being said, I have a big fat list of "adult things" to do. I will share them with you. (I know your thrilled)

  • Check into switching out my insurance to AAA. My dad just did, and he is saving a bunch of money. We have the house, two cars, and my wedding ring. So I need to check into that soon.
  • The mortgage and taxes... so the other day, I came up with the idea that if I took the taxes out of my mortgage (escrow) and just paid them myself, I would save $500 a month to put into a saving account, and actually budget food into, possibly even pay bills and be able to breathe afterwards. Now to pay the taxes each year, I would be using my tax return from the government we get each spring, and that should cover the taxes. I ran it by my dad, who is a budget and money genius, always shuffling money around to save him the most he can. And he said it was a great idea, good for me to think ahead like that. Well when any dad says stuff like that, a girl is awfully proud of herself. (just hope the idea works!)
  • Government grants. Possibly food stamps? Well my mom, who is also a saver, was poking around on some sites and thought that it was possible for me to get food stamps. Now some people may be to proud or find it embarrassing, but shit ladies, if we don't claim it, someone else will. I know I sure paid into it all those years I worked. So we will see. I will post more as I find out.
  • Spike has a flat head, well kinda, enough that it bothers Spaghetti and he wants to go to this cranial place to see if he needs a helmet. Spikes ped. suggested him. Sigh. I am not excited about this at all. I know it's not my fault, but I don't really like talking about it. It bothers me that he has to wear this thing. And now reading through the site, I am not looking forward to all the drama, crying, and not sleeping that may come with this helmet. But again, I need to be an adult, and take care of my Spike bestest I can.
  • I also need to check our bank accounts, mail out Baptism Thank You's, do laundry, fold and put away more clothes (still got those bags in Spikes closet) feed and entertain children... ya know, the adult stuff.

Hope you all have a great day. I am actually having a good day, and I just started my coffee! So hopefully I can accomplish some things today!

Panic = Shit Shove

I am alive, I am here. I am tired, and insanely over the Holiday parties. Yet I just hosted my third party in just over a weeks time. All are fun, and went well. But I just want to breathe, walk around in my sweats, fart and scratch myself. All while not worrying what to pick up at the store for the guests, or how many chairs do I need, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

I am glad that my portion of the entertaining is over. I have 4 more parties, and I ain't hosting none of them! Wee!!

Onto more exciting news. I am the laundry slave today, having all those people checking out all of my home, caused the Mc family to do what they do best. Panic, and do the Shit Shove. Just a quick explanation, the Shit Shove, is a freak out reaction to entertaining many family members, so Spaghetti and I just start bagging shit up, and shoving it in closets, attic space, and the garage. (yes that means that neither of our cars were in the garage for this recent snow fall. Genius)

The Shit Shove, is something I am attempting to stop doing, to prepare in advance to actually clean, and put away things where they belong. Sadly our love for Procrastination halts this progress.

Sigh, so as I would love to blog to you on many random topics, I would love to visit my blog roll, and leave comment love as I often love to do, but I do not have the time today. At most I may just put up my Twitter and post there (yes I am on Twitter, no thanks to Chandler at Maternal Mirth, and Just Jayme for corrupting me into more ways to stall house work)

Speaking of, if you are a Twitter..er.. and would like to follow my ramblings, visit me and maybe we can be Twitter friends, and um.. Tweet? Either way I am here at Twitter. (Aerial you should see if you can do this. Fun stuff)

Laundry.. never fucking mind...

Is at an all time high. And I mean high as in if I am sitting on the 1x1 square patch of bedroom floor that I can see, then the laundry is up to my shoulder. Not kidding.

The floor space is approx. 8x8 with the 3x10 space along my bed, all covered in clothes. The 8x8 space is clean clothes, and the 3x10 space is dirty.

Bizarre? Unheard of? Well I am sure I am not the first, and this is not the...

Jesus fuck, I swear, have you ever been mid post, and you have one screaming kid, one fucking on repeat mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy... then your cell phone rings. Fuck-n-a people, when I am at home, call the house, not the cell.

Fuckin retarded. I am so not in the mood to blog on fucking laundry. What a fucking buzz kill. Grrrr... I am going to the art room, grumpy, pissy, with the whiney Bagel, hoping Spike with go to sleep.

FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over sensitive.

Aunt Flo? Time of the month? Mood swings? Crying for no reason? Over sensitive over everything? Sure.

I was upset that no one was coming to my candle party. (tomorrow night) This is why I don't hold these fucking parties. I just want some candles for myself. (a side note. I do have about 5 people coming)

I was upset that I bought pork chops, and I had them from the meat counter, so I had the guy package them by 3. So there are 2 for Spaghetti, and one for me. After cooking them, they are tiny, and 3 will just feed Spaghetti, fuck it. I might as well just have the butcher just throw them in a pile. Damn it, I am trying to do this stupid menu planning shit. Fuck it.

If you would like to read my very angry vent on laundry go here.

The Scrapbook place still has not let me know which way things are going with our room! Hello! I need to rebook!! (just remembered I need to blog on that)

I am upset that Spike is growing so fast. I remember when Bagel was just a small baby and needed me. Sigh... I need him. (another post)

And Spaghetti brought up subject after subject after subject last night that just were not fun, adult like, and made me not want to grow up.

This folks, is an over emotional freak show here. I need to go get lost in Breaking Dawn. Good news is I have 4 tickets for Saturdays noon show! Hooray!

So that is what is new with me... I have blogging to do, gatta go.
